Additional medical documentation
Medical Documentation for Potential HSA Reimbursement
Medically necessary automotive window film may qualify for payment or reimbursement using Health Savings Account (HSA) funds. Tint-Rx now offers an additional Letter of Medical Necessity documenting the medical reason for recommended window film when clinically appropriate.
This letter supports the medical rationale for the expense. It does not guarantee HSA eligibility or reimbursement and is separate from state window-tint exemption documentation.

ARIZONA
Arizona Medical Window Tint Exemption
Arizona uses an official Motor Vehicle Division medical window-tint exemption process. Tint-RX provides physician review and, when medically appropriate, the documentation needed for the Arizona exemption process.
CALIFORNIA
California Medical Window Tint Documentation
California handles medical sun-protection documentation differently from Arizona and does not use the Arizona MVD exemption process. California law provides specific medical pathways for qualifying sun-screening devices and certain clear UV-filtering materials. Tint-RX evaluates the medical need and provides appropriate physician documentation when supported.

Clinical eligibility
Sun sensitivity has
many medical causes.
Eligibility is individualized. Common examples include:
Skin cancer historyMelanoma, basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma
Photosensitive diseaseLupus, dermatomyositis, porphyria or PMLE
Severe light sensitivityPhotophobia, solar urticaria or chronic actinic dermatitis
Photosensitizing medicationPrescription or chronic therapy that increases sun sensitivity

Does a physician letter automatically make darker tint legal?+
No. The evaluation documents medical need; it does not override state law. Arizona requires MVD approval, and its medical exemption does not cover full-windshield tint. California documentation and installed material must comply with California Vehicle Code requirements.
Do I need an in-person appointment?+
Usually not. Tint‑RX uses an asynchronous review of the information and records you submit. The physician may request clarification or additional documentation.
How is California different from Arizona?+
Arizona uses a formal MVD medical exemption process. California uses physician documentation and has specific requirements governing the type of sun-screening device or material that may be used. A medical recommendation does not authorize unrestricted window tint. See our California Requirements page for details.

Do you offer letters for home window film?
Coming soon. Tint-Rx is developing a separate medical-necessity evaluation and documentation service for residential window film. This service is not yet available. Tax treatment of home improvements may differ from automotive expenses.
Is approval guaranteed?+
No. An evaluation does not guarantee a letter, agency decision, or law-enforcement outcome. Review the fee and cancellation terms in the intake before paying.
